There were many fair and just laws in secular societies before the 10 commandments were ever written.<br /><br />For that matter, the first 4 of the 10 commands are harldy moral and neither is the punishment for failing to practice or accept them. <br /><br />I&#39;d have added, Thou shalt not abuse children to the list of commandments. You&#39;d think a god would have thought of that one??Billhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11310883315235031935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8943294680623256464.post-58157598735902217662009-10-07T09:04:14.011-07:002009-10-07T09:04:14.011-07:00The mixed messages of love vs. eternal punishment for failing to accept the supposed invisible evidence and assumptions of truth or fact hardly seem fair in my opinion. <br /><br />Most conservative xtians, and they seem to be everywhere, always point to their faith as evidence, because in the end it&#39;s awfully hard to prove that an invisible person exists unless you simply believe.<br /><br />I&#39;ve studied the apologetics of Christians and all of it relies on assumed truths and acceptance of claims in the collective of letters and epistles they call the cannon or Bible. <br /><br />I have no problem accepting factual history. I do have a problem accepting supernatural claims simply because I&#39;m supposed to. I wish Christianity was the answer, but it doesn&#39;t bear out. <br /><br />Christian divorce is higher than divorce among non-believers. The more conservative the higher the divorce rate. In all my years of working with the criminal population, I have met very few atheists. Most criminals believe in Jesus, God or some form of god. <br /><br />What are the percentages of moral failure among believer’s verses atheists? What are the percentages of moral failure among true born-again believers vs. true scientific atheists?<br /><br />Does believing in a god guarantee moral behavior? Do people follow religious belief out of fear of punishment, reward or simply because they can&#39;t imagine being alone in the world? Maybe people demand justice and their concept of god or Allah guarantees justice in the next life.<br /><br />True loves supposedly casts out fear. I don&#39;t see how reminding people of punishment serve Christian values if love is the goal.
